The woman who answers the phone IS THE RUDEST person I've ever had to deal with in the fast food business and I've came across many rude people but none like her... She has no right talking to customers the way she does and especially when WE are the ones keeping that business running...!! Now I spend my $40 to $60 for my family at the one in Millerton, NY to just avoid this woman.
I've been going to Great Wall Kitchen for easily over 20 years now. Its a family run business that has some of the best Chinese I've had. The Crab Rangoons are hands down the best in the area. I always get a hello and a smile when I go in from the husband and wife that run it. Be it there Beef Teriyaki or there General Tso's, I can order almost anything and its ready in 10 minutes. I love the service here and the people. It may be an acquired taste but even after moving to Torrington, I try to visit them at least once a month to pickup a dinner or lunch. If you haven't tried it before or have once before give it another whirl.
I give 5 stars for the food, but no matter how nice I am, the lady that answers the phone and works at the counter is so obnoxiously rude. I hesitate every time I call...not sure what crawled up her butt!
On a side note: I've seen the other comments, she's stoic not rude. She is no push over either though. I give her credit. I've seen some rude customers come in either while I'm eating in or picking up over the years. She serves and treats them all equally.
I like the fried dumplings, the hot and sour soup, and the chicken (or shrimp) with garlic sauce. There seems to be an expectation among reviewers that the staff should smile at them more, and suck up to them, since they are the customers. I think this expectation is culturally biased and self-centered. They have a job to do, they do it well, prices are reasonable, portions are large. I respect people who do a job well and do not feel obliged to suck up to the customers. BTW, they are nice to me.
After the lady at the counter rudely told me they were out of the first 2 things I ordered, I left without ordering anything. I'don't rather drive the extra few minutes to millerton for Chinese.
